When her counsellor suggests a therapeutic exercise, Cathy must come face to face with her past and her estrangement from her sister, Joan. Recalling their childhood in the rural South, she remembers the moment Joan became convinced she was hearing angels. As an environmental disaster rages towards them, Cathy must choose between Joan’s truth or her own. Loosely based on St. Joan of Arc and set during the 2005 Hurricane Rita, ‘Joany’ explores sibling bonds, mental illness, faith, and reality.
