What follows is the story of how we got here, one that began as an unlikely friendship between Peregrine and the Grim Reaper, who attempts to convince Peregrine to switch places with them.
Told in a dreamlike weaving of past and present, the events of Peregrine’s prom night are prised memory by memory from Peregrine’s unwilling mind by the ghost of her ex-girlfriend.
