After fleeing war-torn Albania, childhood friends Mirela and Lena find refuge at a secluded, Orthodox convent deep in the forests of Thebes. The play will follow the sisters of Saint Euphrosynos as they prepare for the Great Lent, a holy month of fasting and pious study. As the sisters enter their fast, Lena tries to temper her sudden cravings for earthly pleasures. Death, the Girl, and the Dance follows Death in his office, waiting for a client who is incredibly late. Enter Aphrodite, a prickly and newly dead 24 year old who died falling up the stairs immediately after breaking up with her long time boyfriend, Tom.
